They were awesome! They had a great place in Logan Square where we started and ended our shoot. They welcomed us in their home to start with.

We stepped outside for some gardening.

They had some beautiful landscape going on. I guess they should considering that is what Ben does for a living!

We had to use the garden hose!

Dawn got out the hula hoop for a cute shot!

Her dad was all smiles watching her being silly.

And then things got even sillier!

We headed down the street for some raspberry pickin'.

Dawn and Ben weren't the only ones tasting the berries. Me and Jarrod were loving them too!

And then some edible flowers.

They got their bikes out for a few shots. I love this one.

Dawn shows off her mad biking skillz. Yes, with a "z".

If you look close enough you can spot a rainbow. =)

The light rain made for some awesome shots!

This is the spot where Ben was just approved to start a beautiful landscaped trail near their house. Can't wait to come back and shoot here on their wedding day!

I may have to start doing all of my shoots in Logan Square!

The birds were getting out of the storm. And fast!

But we danced in it!

And then they ran to the next spot.

A few quick shots.

Ben wanted to shoot near this graffiti. I never say no to graffiti. =)

A random swing right in the heart of Logan Square.

We finished our session playing in their front yard. Yes, they have a yard. Anyone else jealous?

I am a little obsessed with this shot. I think Dawn looks gorgeous!

Seriously, unforgettable. Can't wait to see you both again.

Ashley and Scott http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=362 http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=362 Mon, 26 Jul 2010 23:35:00 GMT
Our first stop was near Bottom Lounge and this VW van fell from heaven. I would love to own it. So cool!

We definitely used it to our advantage.

After we took advantage of the van we headed down the street to find some more great spots.

I love this one!

Lake Street.

Couldn't pass this up!

We left downtown and headed to Montrose Harbor. I do not get to shoot here often and I forgot what a great spot it is!

Scott's shoes took center stage!

Some lake shots.

The bird sanctuary is definitely one of Chicago's hidden gems! Love it.

They played around with sunglasses, hats and bubbles!

Love props!

They let me make them look miniature in a few shots.

And then we ran over to their place to photograph them with their best friends.

I love the painting on the wall of their apartment that Ashley is working on.

Those dogs are too much!

See you at the wedding next month!

Kate and Drew http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=361 http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=361 Thu, 22 Jul 2010 00:18:00 GMT Morgan was on duty!

Her super cute shoes!

The earrings!

It didn't take long until she was ready to walk out of the door.

We were off to the ceremony!

Kate was definitely ready for the "big show". =)

One of the guys sent this to a bridesmaid. Had to get a shot of it! It was definitely dress up time...

The ceremony starts.

This was the first Catholic church where the priest actually invited me on the altar to get this shot!

Her mother got a little choked up.

The church was gorgeous! Kate and Drew are really involved with the church and actually helped with the construction that is currently going on. I tried my best to hide the remnants of the construction!

And it was a hot one! The guys came well prepared with their handkerchiefs.

I love this shot of the priest.

A detail from the church ceiling.

Drew's mother helps out with the communion.

These colors. WOW.

Braxton got this great image of the newly married couple! I love a good balcony. =)

They live right across the street from the church. We ran upstairs to do a quick shot on their balcony. I grabbed a quick shot of their church steeple too!

And the couple with the amazing view.

A shout out to the World Cup. Drew and the guys were hanging out in the park across from the church before we headed out for photos.

Loving this shot of the driver patiently waiting for us to board the bus!

We headed to one of their favorite streets in the city!

The tree line street made for some great pictures.

And the light was amazing.

Up next...Fulton Market! Again, loving the light!!

Kate found this on this text on the sidewalk.

Not sure what the groomsman is doing with that 2x4!?

I love shooting in this part of town.

Heading to another location.

A quick shot.

Off to the next spot. Yes, that is a real bird. Crazy, right? Braxton has been getting some amazing images this season!!

Pointing to our next location.

Can't go wrong with the trains!

One of the guests was nice enough to hold a bridesmaid bouquet before we entered the reception.

We finally arrived at Spiaggia's, the location of their reception.

Some details.

The view of the lake from their reception.

The food at Spiaggia's is always perfect!

Kate and Drew donated to the March of Dimes. A great cause!

The cake.

Kate made a guestbook and I used one of the pages for the ring shot. Kate took all of the pictures.

Kate and Drew enter the room.

The blessing.

Drew's brother.

Kate's best friend gets a hug after her speech.

The music starts for their first dance.

The dancing begins.

Drew's sister and father give me the stink eye!

I love this one. She just looks totally over it.

We headed outside for some fun shots!

And that's a wrap. I love this parting shot of Drew heading back to the party.

Have a great life together!!!

Lindsey and Oliver http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=360 http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=360 Wed, 14 Jul 2010 23:41:00 GMT

The time came to step in the dress.

The intimate ceremony was about to begin.

Their mothers.

I love this shot of Oliver waiting to make his entrance.

Her mother was not impressed by my sneakiness.

Oliver and his brother watch Lindsey make her way down the aisle.

Bond Chapel has to be one of the most beautiful and quaint ceremony sites in the city.

A special candle was lit in honor of Lindsey's father.

Amanda whipped out the super wide angle and got this great shot.

They decided to do a ring warming ceremony. It was very touching. They had each of their guests hold their rings and say a little something about their hopes for the couple.

Oliver's mother and father.

They did it!

Some post-ceremony hugs.

Oliver's grandmother couldn't make it to the ceremony but she sent a family heirloom for them to open after the ceremony.

They called to let her know they were a married couple while Oliver's father taped the special moment.

All of the guests!

We photographed around campus for awhile. It's an awesome place!

We left campus and headed to the Planetarium for a skyline shot.

Some Chicago firefighters were taking a break in one of the prettiest spots in the city!

Then we stopped off at the Art Institute.

Had to take this! And no, she was not like the girl on the sign!

The AI gardens.

On the left: Married for the 30 minutes. On the right: Married for 30 years. =)

Pointing at the Bean.

My home away from home. The Kinzie bridge.

Our last stop.

Love this shot of Lindsey!

All of their guests were waiting for them at the top of the Hancock building to celebrate. No reception. Just laughs and drinks!

The stunning view.

They love to knit. I love a cute ring shot.

Thanks for a cute, fun and laid back day!

Lindsey and Oliver planned a wedding and planned it fast! They had three months to get everything together and have a beautiful Tuesday wedding. I was so excited that they asked me to photograph for them. Ten guests and two people who are very in love. Very laid back and lots of fun.

They were married at the gorgeous Bond Chapel on the University of Chicago campus. They got ready in an empty classroom next to the chapel.

Nika Vaughan helped Lindsey prepare for the big day by doing some beautiful makeup for her!

She helps her mother with the flower. Hmmm, her mother looks scared of getting stabbed in the chest!

Her flowers were awesome!!!

Corina and Jay http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=359 http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=359 Sun, 11 Jul 2010 23:46:00 GMT
When I walked in Corina's room I noticed this Father Of The Bride DVD laying near the television. She said that she watched it the night before with her mother and father. How cute is that?! Plus, I love Steve Martin and I wanted a picture of him on the blog. =)

The ladies toasted to a fun day!

Corina steps into her dress with the help of her mother and some friends.

One of the bridesmaids took a peek to make sure she had all of the help she needed!

We headed out to catch a cab to meet up with Jay.

Her mother grabbed a quick shot.

And Corina posed for the camera!

They decided to meet up with each other at one of their favorite restaurants in the city, La Scarola. They love to come here for special date nights. It is a very cool place and pretty historic. The owner was nice enough to buy drinks for the entire wedding party. Very cool!

Jay was waiting for his bride.

We ran across the street and joined the crowd that was hanging out for a parade.

We headed back to the restaurant to wait for the wedding party to arrive.

They had a few drinks before we headed around town for more photos.

Those party buses bring the crazy out in everyone!

A few bridge shots.

Corina got some help from Jay and the best man so that we could shoot on a loading dock.

Back on the party bus and on our way to North Avenue beach.

It was packed!

Always a colorful crowd at the beach!

A quick shot in the parking lot.

Our first of many "Cub" shots. They are kind of obsessed. =) They actually met each other at Wrigley so we had to head to the stadium.

Before we left the beach Corina spotted this Blazer covered in hearts.

Cubby blue shoes, blue bridesmaid dresses and a bat and ball. Wrigley Field here we come!

This was the ticket from the game they met at.

And we arrived at Wrigley.

A dog photo bomb!

The brick that Jay purchased for Corina's family.

Finally, we headed to another Chicago staple. The Billy Goat Tavern was a blast.

A quick shot before we headed in for "cheezborgers" and drinks. =)

It was SO Chicago and that was awesome!

The owner grabbed a quick photo with the happy couple.

And he gave them shirts!

We left in a hurry to head to the ceremony site!

As we were leaving there was a scavenger hunt going on. They had to take a bite of someone's burger and one of the groomsmen was happy to help them out!

It was too good not to finish!

We arrived at Washington Square Park for their ceremony. It was beautiful out and the ceremony was perfect!

The ring bearer was not that impressed though.

He made it down the aisle with some help from the groom.

Jay spots Corina.

Her father hands her off to Jay.

Jay's mother was all smiles.

The amazing view from the park!

Corina's very proud father.

The kiss!

The light was definitely on my side!

The new couple.

The ladies helped Corina enter The Newberry Library for cocktails.

And these next two cocktail hour pictures just had to be posted!

Corina's father started the reception by thanking everyone for coming.

The maid of honor makes the groom blush.

Corina's father brewed some wedding day ale. It was great. Yes, I drank on the job. =)

The first dance.

Corina and her father.

Jay and his mother. Love the tissue shot!

Some photo booth fun.

Brave man.

Dancing!

The bride and groom decided to sneak out for a few night shots.

So glad that they did!

Paparazzi all over!

And Corina had enough of me. Ok. I am out.

Nick and Emi http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=358 http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=358 Sun, 11 Jul 2010 23:34:00 GMT

I love the Hotel Allegro. The interior is perfect! The dress looked awesome hanging against this great wallpaper in her bridal suite.

Emi's mother helps her with the dress.

Her mother was telling me how to frame the perfect shot! =)

The beautiful bride!

We headed outside to meet up with Nick.

She was so excited!

He was patiently waiting.

A very Chicago first meeting!

A quick shot before we left the hotel and headed around town.

We got a shot like this from their engagement session. Take two!

We found a great spot for some photos!

I love this one.

I was loving this staircase.

The texture and colors of this garage door were awesome.

The rain started to come down a bit.

We kept shooting!

We arrived at A New Leaf when the storm was in full force. We couldn't even try to shoot outside!

We did a quick photo shoot at A New Leaf before their ceremony.

The guests started arriving to the ceremony.

I love this shot of the tape that marked the spots where they stood during the ceremony.

The music.

She was ready for the ceremony to start!

Nick's mother watches him as he spots his bride.

Nick.

Only if she had on pearls. Dang!

Emi's mother and father escort her down the aisle.

The vows.

They incorporated a saki ceremony into their vows.

They did it!

Time for cocktails!

I loved this idea. They had their guests create thumbprints with signatures and ended up with a cool piece of art at the end of the night.

Wow. Triple drinks! Nice.

The storm cleared up just in time for people to enjoy the beautiful patio during cocktails.

That's right. No rain!

The speeches.

Nick's friend gets choked up and I get it on camera!

The first dance.

A few people enjoyed the night air...

And others danced the night away!

Sorry. Had to post this shot of Emi's father enjoying the tasty food!

The rain came back at the end of the night but they were too busy on the dance floor to even care!

Thanks for a fun and rainy night!

See you in November!

Anna and Sean are getting married this November on Notre Dame's campus. I can't wait to shoot there. Notre Dame's campus is beautiful!

We found this just laying on the ground. Ah, the West Loop.

That thing in the red dress. Wow. Scary.

A Lake Street shot is always fun when you have to worry about oncoming traffic!

One of many cool bridges in Chicago.

The bean: paparazzi style.

The Art Institute gardens.

One of my closest friends was pregnant for 6 months. She found out that she was going to have a baby girl and immediately named her Lucy. Lucy had severe complications that led to a very early delivery. My friend asked me to photograph her time in room 614.

The staff at the Evanston Hospital were incredible. I have never seen anything like it. My hat goes off to nurses everywhere. They were unbelievable.

Addie and Johnathan http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=355 http://webmail.jeremylawsonphotography.com/blog.cfm?postID=355 Mon, 05 Jul 2010 18:14:00 GMT Salvage One, throughout their entire day. They also allotted 4-5 hours of photo time of just the two of them around town. We ended up with some amazing images that I can't wait to share with everyone.

Addie's dress was hanging in the window when I arrived. It was beautiful.

Her perfect lashes by one of my best friends on the planet, Nika Vaughan.

I almost fainted when she popped out. That is some scary stuff. Seriously.

Her shoes and jewelry.

A shot of Johnathan getting ready.

Johnathan with his brother and father.

Addie's mother helps her in her wedding dress.

This pretty much sums up the getting ready process on a wedding day.

The beautiful bride!

We jumped in the limo and headed to the ceremony at Old St. Pat's.

Addie and her mother were all smiles. They must have known that the rain was going to stop right after her ceremony!

Her father gets ready to walk her down the aisle.

Old St. Pat's has to be one of the prettiest and historic Catholic churches downtown.

That's a wrap!

Yes, this was seriously their transportation. I was dying. We headed around the city with one of their good friends who owned this vintage pink Buick.

Johnathan is also a photographer. He brought his camera along for the ride.

Pink furry dice!

Loved this compass in the car...

Their friend was ready to take us to our first stop.

We stopped off at LaSalle street where the rain picked up for a second. We still put that pink and white umbrella to good use.

A stranger held an umbrella over Addie while Johnathan got their umbrella under control.

Our second stop on a long trip around town!

I found this robin's egg while we were walking around. It looks so sad.

They were having so much fun all day!

Her awesome bouquet from Asrai Garden.

Johnathan did a little bridal session of his own!

Gotta love that camera!

We wrapped up our shooting in Lincoln Park and headed to Montrose harbor.

Their friend had to get a shot with his amazing car.

I guess the timing was bad. Oops.

A lakeside toast.

Um...

You knew I would post this.

We headed to Uptown and found this magical fence. Are you kidding me?!?

They did a quick dance in the alley.

I am thinking that everyone should go to Uptown on their wedding day. People were all over the streets checking out the wedding parade!

A quick shot in front of the Uptown Theatre.

The historic Green Mill jazz club. This is also the location where I met one of my childhood idols, Mr. Keanu Reeves. That's right. I said it.

I love when something unexpected and unplanned happens. This little boy on the bus was so excited when he saw us shooting near the bus. He was laughing and giving us a "thumbs up". It was so cute!

We left Uptown and drove over to the deliciousness that is Hot Doug's.

These people were not even playing around. The sad bride and groom posed at the end of the line.

We snuck inside for a few photos but forget about ordering. I think these people would have punched us! =)

With no luck atHot Doug's, we headed to Wicker Park and sat down for some awesome food at Big Star. Go there! So good.

With time to spare, we ended up at their condo in Bucktown. Addie even had time for a robe and some coffee!

We should have brought him back some food. He was so hungry he was eating the blinds.

This was me being stupid, of course. I made up my own detail from their wedding. It is actually a photo from one of their vinyl album covers. I need to recreate this pose for an actual wedding. Badly.

I took a quick ring shot while we were hanging out at their place.

We tried to call a cab to take us to their reception at Salvage One. The cab didn't show up so Addie had to hail one on her own!

I love this shot of her heading upstairs to check out the reception room.

The guests start to arrive.

Cocktails!

The ladies at Food For Thought helped make their reception site look amazing.

The cake from Alliance Bakery.

They loved it.

Another cake shot that I love.

An Italian tradition.

I kind of love this. This was on a bag that Johnathan brought with his to the reception.

A speech by Addie's father.

Johnathan's mother.

Addie's brother.

The first dance.

Addie's mother.

Yes, they are.

One of their guests wrapped their wedding day present with this paper. I had to post it. Love it!

Thanks for an amazing trek around the city and the great night that followed. Have a blast together!

Laurie greeted me with a waving finger.

Madeline, the director of the MCA.

Some of the guests checking out the work...

I headed outside with Andrea where she ate an airplane right off of her friends shirt.

The incredible view from the terrace.

The artistic director of the Joffrey Ballet, Ashley Wheater.

They had a small performance dedicated to the work of Calder.

That's a wrap! Until next time...
